Ruth is an honorary professor at Staffordshire and visiting professor at Keele University, and has recently retired as a practising GP after 40+ years as a medic at the frontline. Ruth was a clinical lead for digital primary care transformation across Staffordshire for 9 years (with focus on long-term conditions such as diagnosing and managing cardiovascular and respiratory conditions); and digital upskilling of clinicians and social workers and now social prescribers - creating 500 or so digital champions across England.
Ruth has written 84 books (yes 84!!) –mainly for health care teams, some for the public on health- back pain/healthy heart/work stress/menopause; presented at national & international conferences; as well as carrying out research, and contributing to national guidance such as rebutting prescribing fraud, NICE guidance on weight management.
