Max Henderson is Professor of Psychological Medicine & Occupational Psychiatry at the University of Leeds and a consultant liaison psychiatrist. He trained in hospital medicine in London and Essex before training in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. He obtained his Masters in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His PhD looked at early life risk factors for long term sickness absence. Max joined Kevin Holland-Elliott’s department at Kings in 2001 and has remained closely engaged with occupational health since. He has published over 100 papers and book chapters many of which focus on the relationship between physical health, mental health and work. Max contributed to Carol Black’s 2008 report Working for a Healthier Tomorrow and the 2013 CMO report on Public Mental Health. Max is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and is the only psychiatrist to be appointed to the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council.
