Chris Steel BSc(Hons), MPhil, MIOA Principal Specialist Inspector (Noise and Vibration) Chris has worked as a specialist inspector for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) since 2015 and is the technical lead for workplace noise and vibration. He specialises in the inspection and investigation of workplace noise, hand-arm vibration, and whole-body vibration. His current role is to develop and promote HSE technical standards for workplace noise and vibration. He leads on; the development of operational guidance for HSE inspectors, maintaining the technical details of HSE’s guidance, and encouraging and promoting good practice in workplace noise and vibration. Before joining the HSE he spent 18 years in noise and vibration; working in consultancy, academia, and acoustic product design.
