Dr Allsopp is the Chief Medical Advisor at Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). She joined in 2023 after a varied career that’s included academic work at the University of Nottingham, shaping clinical policy at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), and holding senior medical leadership roles—like being Chief Medical Officer at NICE.​ At DWP, Dr Allsopp heads up the clinical policy team and works closely with the Department of Health and Social Care through the Joint Work and Health Unit.​ Outside of her policy work, she’s just wrapped up NIHR-funded research on Long Covid. She also sits on the RCGP Council and is a trustee for Sinfonia Viva, an East Midlands-based orchestra where she supports creative health initiatives.
