Men's Health Matters: Addressing Common Health Conditions and Mental Wellbeing

13 Mar 2024
Health and Conditions

In this impactful session, Medigold’s Chief Nursing Officer, Nicky Piper, and Mental Health Training Specialist, Barrie Norman Jnr, will be opening up the conversation on some of the main health issues affecting men and what employers can do to support better men’s health.

Drawing on the experience and expertise she has developed during her time spent working as a hospital nurse and in her 23-year career in occupational health, Nicky will first examine the main factors currently contributing to poor men’s health outcomes and lift the lid on the top health concerns facing men, including the warning signs and symptoms and how to reduce the risks. She’ll also be discussing the important role employers can play in changing the culture and attitudes around men’s health and educating working-age men on the issues that disproportionately affect them.

Barrie will then shift the lens onto men’s mental health in his segment ‘From silence to strength’. Sharing his personal, lived experience of mental ill health and the insights he’s gained over years of delivering workplace mental health and disability training, he’ll explore why we need to focus more on this vital area of men’s wellbeing and share practical tips and advice on how to start conversations and look after yourself and others.
