Are Your Workplace Wellbeing Policies and Guidance Fit For Purpose?

12 Mar 2025
Management and Leadership
Policies exist to help organisations maintain standards, ensure a consistent and fair approach to decision making, and make explicit and contextualize an employers' legal obligations. Yet research shows that many policies and guidelines are not achieving these aims. The presentation will describe the development of a validated tool to assess policies and practices against, identify strengths and development areas, and make recommendations to improve the design, content, accessibility and implementation of policies. The research used an evidence-based practice methodology including an evidence and practice review, guidance from Acas, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, the Health at Safety Executive, and consultations with experts in health at work. Trialled with a range of public and private sector organisations and most recently in the Midlands Mental Health and Productivity Pilot, to provide organisations with insight into strengthening policies to improve employee health and wellbeing.
