Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
Being a Trauma-informed organisation isn’t just about supporting clients in for health or care settings; it’s about how organisations show up for their people. Being trauma-informed is a leadership and organisational culture issue; it builds trust and psychological safety, reduces harm and supports better performance and retention. This session will introduce you to the core principles of trauma-informed practice, explore how trauma shapes how workers engage, communicate or perform at work, and learn why this matters for psychologically safe working environments. Using examples from the Trauma Responsive Greater Manchester project, and NHS Open Dialogue model, the session will provide you with practical application of the principles. Learning outcomes for delegates: Delegates will: • Be introduced to trauma informed practice, SAMSHA’s principles and the 4 R’s of a Trauma-Informed approach • Recognise the impact of trauma on staff wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement • Identify practical ways that trauma-informed principles can support staff wellbeing and strengthen leadership through lessons drawn from UK workplaces.
