Managing Musculoskeletal Health and Long-Term Conditions

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is often diagnosed during people’s prime working years, between the ages of 20 and 40. Without appropriate support, many face the prospect of leaving employment prematurely, with significant consequences for their financial security, wellbeing and quality of life. This presentation will explore the evidence for supporting people with MS to remain in or return to work, examine the barriers and enablers to sustained employment, and showcase a practical example of workplace support. By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Understand the evidence on vocational rehabilitation for people with MS.

• Identify the key barriers and enablers to sustained employment.

• Explore practical approaches and workplace adjustments to support people with MS.

• Apply learning from a real-world example to improve workplace support.
